Machame route is the most popular. It is also known as the whiskey route as it is considered to be more difficult than the Marangu (Coca-Cola) route.
Day 1: Arrival day into Arusha
Arrive Arusha where a friendly Warrior Trails representative will greet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you to the African Tulip for overnight.
Day 2: Machame Gate (1800m) – Machame Camp (3000m)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Machame Gate where you will meet your guide and porters. Following registration, you start your climb, stopping for a picnic lunch.
After a 5-7 hour hike, you will arrive at Machame Camp. In the afternoon, you will climb a little higher for acclimatization before returning to Machame Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Machame Camp (3000m) – Shira Camp (3800m)
Start your 4-6 hour climb after breakfast, stopping for a picnic lunch. Arrive in the afternoon at Shira Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Shira (3800m) – Baranco Camp (3950m)
Breakfast is following by a slow 6-7 hour walk with packed lunches. Arrive at Baranco Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Baranco Camp (3950m) – Barafu Camp (4600m)
With picnic lunch en route, climb for approximately 8-9 hours before arriving at Barafu Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Barafu (4600m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Mweka Camp (3100m)
An early morning wake up call just after midnight is followed by a light breakfast before starting the final ascent to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Stell Point can be reached in about 7-8 hours, with a further ascent to the Uhuru Peak, reached in about 45 minutes. After a short rest, begin your descent via the Gilman’s Point down to Mweka Camp in about 4-6 hours for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Mweka (3100m) – Mweka Gate (1600m) – Arusha
After breakfast, make your final descent ot Mweka gate in about 3-4 hours for private transfer to Arusha. Spend your afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in arusha.
